TableRock in the Boise Foothills

This morning, some friends and I (Dave Holzer and Mike Darrington) decided to hike up Tablerock. It's about a 45 minute hike up to the top. And as you can see, you have a sweet view of Boise. Once at the summit, we fired up our burners and brewed some HC & Cider. It was a little cold, but nothing to cry about. Overall, it was good pre-season training for the longer hikes coming up later in the year.

Eat Right!

I think most of us out there want to get into great shape, look our best and live a long healthy live. P90X is helping me achieve this goal. I love what it's teaching me and I love the increased strength & endurance I'm gaining. The results have been awesome.

But along with getting up early or staying up late 6-days a week busting your ace on the work-out DVD's, incorporating a healthy eating plan is key. Notice I did not say DIET. That is a LAME word and never works. What you have to do is understand what foods are good and bad for you and choose the good ones. It's that simple. It's not counting calories, cutting carbs or certain foods. Who has time to play that game?

This book was recommended to me by a great friend of mine who is a graduate of P90X, and continues to do the program a few times a year. His results are obvious and inspiring. The book, The Abs Diet, Eat Right Every Time Guide is a no-nonsense way to eat right without carrying around a notepad jotting down every thing you eat during the day and then analyzing it.

I started reading this book the second week into the P90X program and here is what I have pulled from it so far:
I eat 6-times a day (Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, Snack)
I eat whole wheat bread vs enriched white breads
I skimp on butter and dressings
I've cut sugar out of my diet i.e. candy, cakes, doughnuts etc
I eat a ton of fruits and veggies
I drink a ton of water.
1 day a week for 1 meal, I eat whatever I want. In fact, I look forward to this day because it's my reward for eating healthy during the week.

I recommend buying this book and following it's principles while doing the P90X work-out. You can pick it up at Boarders for $8.

I stared the program and weighed in at 172.5lbs, 3-weeks later I'm down to 166lbs and I feel great and a lot stronger.

Pat's Teton Pic

Here is a pick that Pat took from the crapper at our campsite at Dununda, I've got it as my windows backdrop now. Ahhh It brings back such fond memories of reliving myself every morn and some evenings. I recall the skeeters sucking the blood out of my ace while I was trying to pass last nights MRE. Ahh Camping....

P90X Pull Up Bar

The cool thing about P90X is that you don't need fancy equipment to get ripped. It's Old School training and dedication. In fact, here's a picture of my pull up bar... sweet isn't it?
(2 weight lifting bars connected by tie-downs and supported by the trusses!)
